Innovation in Sector Based Initiatives

EWD Coordination Services, provides logistical support to the California Community Colleges System Office and for the California Community Colleges Economic and Workforce Development (CCCEWD) stakeholders.

The CCCEWD ten sector-based initiatives that are industry specific, regional solutions to employers' needs for skilled workers, and focus on short-tem and long-term market needs in emerging technologies [green; biotechnology; small business; advanced transportation technologies and energy; advanced technology and manufacturing; healthcare; environmental, health, safety and homeland security; international trade; multimedia and entertainment; workplace learning].

Last year, EWD's innovative sector-based initiatives served 48,470 organizations (45,004 business owners/managers) resulting in improvements in productivity, sales and new equity investments of over $215,000,000. EWD consistently creates or retains more than 16,000 jobs through its high growth initiatives.
