Manufacturing Skills

APICS Fundamentals (4 classes: Manufacturing Control, Planning, Operations Management, Inventory Control)
Fundamentals of Inventory Control, Fundamentals of Manufacturing Control, Fundamentals of Planning, and Fundamentals of Operations Management all develop production and inventory controls for an efficiently managed organization.  Fundamentals of Inventory Control provides an understanding of the dynamics of inventory, and how actions, ordering systems, bad parts, and change in production schedules should be handled to minimize out-of-stock situations that can shut down the entire operation.  Fundamentals of Planning introduces participants to the principles of effective planning from strategy to tactics. Manufacturing Control provides a working understanding of priority and capacity management, and is helpful for managers and supervisors who must juggle schedules. And Operations Management provides the overall understanding of how a company converts a "customer desire" to a completed product or service. Each company function is discussed and its role and responsibilities are covered to provide successful strategies to overcome difficulties.

Blueprint Reading
Participants will be able to perform basic geometric and algebraic functions necessary to draw objects.  They will understand the symbology found on company blueprints (bring them in for hands-on interpretation), and will understand how to read the various drawing views.

CNC Machining:  Applied, Mill and Lathe
This course is ideal for trainees who want hands-on CNC machining experience.  Trainees will be able to develop and apply operating skills in a workplace environment in order to reinforce the learning process. Trainees will learn about CNC code in relation to blueprint, how to choose the right tools, how to use geometric offsets and precision measurements, and how to operate Fanuc controllers.

CNC Programming, Beginning
This course is tailored for trainees who want to improve their understanding of how CNC machines are programmed and operated.  By the end of the course trainees will be familiar with basic operation and capabilities of lathe and milling machines, have a basic understanding of shop math and blueprint reading, be familiar with basic commands used in programming CNC lathes and mills, and be able to write simple programs for CNC mills and lathes.

Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
This course is an introduction to the ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard, and is perfect for employees in manufacturing, quality, inspection, engineering or design who must understand and apply GD&T.   Topics covered include geometric symbols, orientation symbols, position symbols, datum reference frames, true position, form symbols, and bonus tolerances.

Inspection Techniques
This course will improve trainees’ blueprint reading skills and understanding of tolerance requirements, customer specifications, and measurement techniques.  Trainees will improve in the use of tools and accuracy of performance.

HazMat Training
Introduction of environmental management, chemistry and toxicology and an overview of federal, state and local regulations will be the topics of Part 1 of this course. Part 2 will consist of hazardous material and hazardous waste management including waste minimization and future trends. Workplace safety, environmental liability and risk management will be topics covered.

Inspection Techniques
This class is specifically designed to improve production level technicians' abilities to inspect parts against production tolerances, improving your company's ability to compete in today's quality-driven economy. Learn to identify parts that will pass Inspection. Specific topics include tolerances and allowances, mechanical measurement, understanding and using precision measuring instruments, and introduction to computer numerical control coordinate measurement machines (CMM). This class is ideally conducted at your company location using your prints and measurement devices if you have 15 or more employees to train.
