Providing the Tools that Build Success
The Small Business Development Center, hosted by College of the Canyons, was launched in January 2006. Serving the Antelope Valley, San Fernando Valley, and Santa Clarita Valley, we help prospective and existing small business owners in northern Los Angeles County start, retain or expand their businesses. We provide workshops, one-on-one consulting, and many other resources to the business community. We are part of a network of ten Small Business Development Centers serving businesses from Santa Barbara County, Ventura County and Los Angeles County.
Whether you are an early stage entrepreneur or an established business, our staff can provide you with business counseling in business plan development, basic accounting and bookkeeping, marketing and sales and technology. We can also provide you with assistance in accessing capital, state and federal government contracting and much more.
Thinking of starting your own business? The Small Business Development Center can help. To learn more or to schedule a one-on-one business counseling session, please contact our main office at 661-294-9375.

Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce 28460 Avenue Stanford, Suite 100 Santa Clarita, CA 91355
SBDC Masterminds is a one hour intense business training in an intimate group setting. Mastermind group goals are achieved through weekly sessions where small business owners are able to share and exchange business ideas, develop strategic alliances with other business owners, gain helpful business knowledge and discuss and learn about relevant and specific small business topics. These topics include sales growth, branding, understanding your sphere of influence, marketing, employee issues, business planning, leadership, presentation skills, financial planning and much more.
Each Mastermind session is facilitated by either the SBDC Assistant Director or one of the Center’s business counselors. Special guests are also invited to facilitate these sessions depending on the topic. The one hour training session includes a brief discussion of client successes from the past week. Each member is encouraged to share at least one success with the group. A topic is then introduced for discussion and a learning activity is presented. Each activity is designed to produce a certain learned outcome which can be applied to the management of the client’s business during the upcoming week. Each session concludes with each member sharing upcoming business challenges. Members then discuss each challenge and receive feedback and potential solutions from the group.
